If you are like many people, you know them best for the hit single "Take on Me." The song that makes many Americans mistakenly think of them as One Hit Wonders. The band I am referring to is a-ha, and they have been one of my favorite bands for the 25 years they have been together. Yes, I have loved them for 25 years. And I am only 26. Amazing how that happens.
After spotting the elk we found the Rim trail and got our first views of the Grand Canyon. The best word to describe this moment is breathtaking. And another: Jaw-dropping. No matter how many amazing pictures you may have seen of the Grand Canyon, they absolutely do not compare to the extent of the beauty and wonder of seeing it in person. It fills you with awe and humility, as well as immense pride, at the fact that one of the world's greatest wonders is in the United States.
I just came across this quote and I couldn't disagree with it more:
"Do not pray for an easy life. Pray for the strength to endure a difficult one." -Bruce Lee
That is all.
I admit that I am pretty lucky. My trip to the Grand Canyon was actually a work trip. And my husband was able to go with me. I was excited about the mini-getaway, but didn’t really think about what was ahead of me. I mentioned to a friend that I wished I could bring out adorable cat, Barnaby, with us to the Canyon. At this sentiment, she exclaimed, “What, and risk him being attacked by one of those wild animals?”
I visited the Grand Canyon for the first time over the weekend. It was spectacular. I wasn't sure about my level of enjoyment as I am not much of a nature lover--I am a city girl through and through and tend to hyperventilate the further I get from urban areas. But the Grand Canyon may have made me a changed woman! Its beauty is beyond description and the atmosphere was entirely one of peace. I thoroughly enjoyed a challenging hike I took along one of the trails on Monday. I always love returning to Philadelphia, but I kind of wish I were back at the Canyon.
I have a love affair with Ann Taylor. Ann Taylor Loft, specifically. Annie T knows not of the extent of my love. But that makes it no less intense. Or real. Whenever I am down, Annie T is always there to lift my spirits. Friday was a prime example. It was an intense morning at work and I needed a break. It was Friday, yes, but the day was moving very slowly. So I visited Annie over my lunch break. She greeted me with fabulous salesmen (so wonderful that I want to become their friends), beautiful clothes, and even better--incredible deals.
Didn't see this one coming, but Kelis' new song, "Acapella," is an incredible piece of pop music. I was never terribly impressed with Kelis other music, but I have yet to be able to listen to this song just once. Can't wait to go out and dance to this one.
Listen for yourself and check out the cool video while you're at it:
Mother Nature has used 2010 to continually show us earthlings that SHE is in charge. No matter how many advances in science we think we have made, She can wipe those out in one instant with her power. I hope that humans are observing what is happening all over the globe and are tremendously humbled. Much as we would like to think that we are, people are NOT in control.
Happy Easter to the two Christians that happen to stumble upon this website. To those of other faiths, I hope you still get a chance to enjoy some chocolate candy, bunny ears and/or Easter parades that are an important hallmark of the holiday.
As with any important/historical/sacred event, someecards has some wonderfully irrelevant and sacrilegious greetings for the holiday. You might as well find out now that irreverent humor is my favorite kind. If the cards below offend you we're not going to get along, so better to discover this early on in a relationship.
