Fashion for female football fans has come a long way since the need to purchase boys youth jerseys in major retailers because no women’s sizes were carried. Which, sadly, wasn’t that long ago. Now, companies and sports teams and leagues are wise enough to know the buying power of women and try to harness it.
In perhaps the craziest single day in NFL history, Tim Tebow was traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets, then wasn't, then was again. But for real the second time.
And that was only the second biggest story of the day.
I blame Peyton Manning's neck injury and absence all season for skewing the balance of the NFL universe. Eli stole his mojo and is being hailed as--*shudder*--an elite quarterback. The Bengals have a winning record and may just make the playoffs, and the Eagles are 5-8. And the sporting universe is obsessed with a quarterback who can't throw a ball.
...every team that is not the New York Giants.
Naming one jerk in an organization that seems to be overflowing with them is no easy task. But selection the winner of this prestigious honor was made incredibly simple on Sunday evening, shortly after the Eagles fell to the New York Giants.
What do you think when you think of a PR person? Poise. Class. The ability to spin like nobody’s business.
...someone feels it appropriate to send you the following someecard:
Hee hee. Thanks, Ms. Julia!

Football talk on Women's Wear Daily--not a pairing you'd expect to see. However, I stumbled upon a little gem on the Mensweek section of WWD that did exactly that. They featured a "Rating the Quarterbacks" piece, ranking the top ten quarterbacks in the NFL based on a variety of factors. Level of play counted for less than half of the overall score. How fun!
Happy Thanksgiving to the readers of The Sports Muse. Enjoy this time of family and food and take time out to count your blessings. And watch some football.
12:30 pm on CBS: 8-2 New England Patriots versus the 2-8 Detroit Lions.
I know it's terribly unlikely, but I like the Lions, there are rumblings of Tom Brady not playing due to soreness in his foot...Lions for a Thanksgiving upset?
Hope they win: Detroit
4:05 pm on Fox: 7-3 New Orleans Saints versus the 3-7 Dallas Cowboys.
So many reasons to love September--perfect weather, gorgeous blue, cloudless skies...and the return of football. It's been a long, hot, summer, and we have waited long enough.
Why is Brett Favre such a hot mess? Perhaps the better question is, why does his hot mess-ness fascinate me so much? I suppose it's all human nature. It's hard to turn away from a train wreck. I love football but admittedly don't know a lot about contracts and such--but I simply don't get it. How come the man is allowed to keep his team hostage? Why can he just hang out and miss training came and come back IF he is healthy? Shouldn't he have determined that prior to the start of training camp?!
