Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is a Man of Bold Style Choices
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is showing that he marches to the tune of his own drummer when it comes to his style. While I can’t commend some of the fashion choices themselves, a key component of fashion is owning your look, and it seems that DRC has that part down cold.
Rodgers-Cromartie wears his choices with confidence, and regardless of what you think of what he wears you have to love that.
At training camp this summer, DRC showed up with a bold statement: his green mohawk and a green tinged beard. Meh, it was summer, it was fun, it showed more of the ordinarily quiet player’s personality. You had to love the commitment to the style and his team.
On Saturday, as the Eagles arrived in Cleveland for their season opener the following day, DRC landed with an outfit that probably could have seen by radar back in Philly: a hot pink getup that looked like hospital scrubs (above). The outfit was accentuated by matching pink sunglasses, white shoes and a massive chain featuring the initials “DRC.”
And I thought pink pants by themselves were a bold choice among athletes.
I can’t wait to see what else Rodgers-Cromartie wears this season, though the green hair and bright pink are going to be tough choices to top. You get the feeling that DRC isn’t out to make any significant statement with his fashion choices but rather doing what he feels. Which makes you have to like the moves all the more, despite that burning sensation in your retinas from the brightness of his selections.
So is DRC’s look a fashion offense? I have to say yes, but knowing full well that he doesn’t give a crap.
