Venus Williams Hits An Ace with EleVen Runway Show

Tennis star Venus Williams has unleashed her stylish side with the launch of her sportswear line, EleVen, and its runway debut at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Williams looked fabulous and so did the many athletes who walked the runway for the line, including boxer Michael Olajide and former New York City Ballet principal Albert Evans. The nod to her own athleticism in the selection of models was a wise choice and added a fresh perspective to the show. Among her celebrity attendees was swimmer Ryan Lochte, who was front and center to see the line’s looks, a spot he seems to have remained since the Olympic games concluded in July.

Williams describes the line as follows:

"My vision for sportswear is that you should be able to express yourself. I don't feel like you should be told how to wear your clothes. If you want to be more daring and wear a print, or mix and match, or just go classic, you should be able to do that, and EleVen allows you to do that."

The show earned praise from none other than Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley—a feat many designers don’t accomplish during the course of an entire career.
