And You Thought *Your* Job Situation was Uncertain

The 2010 NFL season is far from over and it's already clear that it has been an unusual one, for a variety of reasons. If I had to pick a few words to describe the season thus far, they would be words like surprising. Dramatic. Tumultuous. And if you are a coach in the NFL this year of an under performing team, uncertainty should definitely be the word used to describe the season. With 3 weeks in the regular season remaining, 3 coaches have been fired in the midst of the season.

For What It's Werth: Jayson Werth Heads to the Nationals

It's done. Jayson Werth is no longer a Phillie.

Phillies fans feared all year that the team would lose Jayson Werth. Despite mid-season trade rumors, Werth remained a Phillie for the duration of the season. But then we held our breath. Werth wanted money. Could the Phillies hang on to the talented outfielder?

Bad Attitude Mash-Up: You Talking About Practice? You Talking about Playoffs?

It was another rough Sunday for The Sports Muse. A few posts featuring updates from the past few days in the world of sports are due, but until then, reader Joe Camp shared a video so amazing I had to share it with you. It is a compilation of some of the best lines in sports history put to music. This video is heavy on the NFL side but includes the important presence of Allen Iverson's infamous "practice" sound bite. The video has been on the interwebs for over a year so you may have seen it before, but if so it's worth another look.

Top 10 NFL Meltdowns

The week started with a meltdown of an NFL player, so why not end it with one? Or several. SportsCenter created a list of the Top 10 NFL Meltdowns. All are impressive tirades.

Fashion Offense: UGG Tom Brady

While watching a game I don't care to speak of ever again this past weekend, I decided that I needed to hate San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers more and lay off Tom Brady for a bit. As soon as I made this decision, news of Brady going to a hair clinic to investigate options for hair plugs hit the internet. I was nice. I said nothing about how the thought of a balding Tom Brady filled my heart with happiness and light. But I am only human. When news broke that Tom Brady was the new face and feet for UGG Australia, the snarky comments began writing themselves.

Letter to Brett Favre

Dear Brett,

Saw this at at the Philadelphia International Airport and thought of you. Wondering if you need a new pair?

Sincerely,

Brandyn

Ladies and Gentlemen, We Have a Winning Streak!

It's not easy being a fan of Philadelphia sports. Our plight become less miserable after the Phillies won the World Series in 2008, but there remainl 3 other major sports team that were starved for championship.

Derek Anderson Didn't Win Monday Night Football but Still Gives a Heck of a Performance

If we've learned anything from the 2010 NFL season, we have learned that quarterback meltdowns are awesome. So entertaining. So many implications and subsequent story lines. Quarterback meltdowns equal endless entertainment and delight. Witness the latest subject of QB hot mess-ness: Arizona Cardinals quarterback Derek Anderson.
